Hintco Awards Asian H2Global Lot to AM Green for RFNBO Ammonia

What happened

On 30 September 2026, Hintco named AM Green the sole winner of the Asian lot in its H2Global auction. Hintco announced a ten-year agreement to buy RFNBO ammonia for Germany for at least EUR 585 million.

AM Green plans to supply the ammonia from Kakinada Phase 2 in Andhra Pradesh. Hintco expects first deliveries in 2029. It has not yet published the annual volume, unit price, or full auction results.

Why it matters

The award gives an Indian ammonia project a named European buyer and a long contract term. It changes the demand evidence that lenders and project teams can review. It does not settle every delivery or certification risk.

What changes for producers, buyers, and certifiers

• Producers can compare their RFNBO export plans with a confirmed H2Global award. They still need to check the terms for their own bids.
• Buyers can plan around a named supply project, while treating 2029 as an expected start date.
• Certifiers will need records for renewable power, hydrogen production, ammonia synthesis, and custody through shipment. The award itself is not a product certificate.

SCREEN should record the award, purchase term, project stage, and planned delivery date as separate facts. RFNBO export readiness needs evidence that the Kakinada production and shipment chain meets the applicable rules. A GHCI assessment for Indian use would answer a different question.

Risks and caveats

Hintco has not disclosed annual volume, unit price, or the full results. It expects to publish the full results before the end of 2026. Kakinada Phase 2 remains under construction, and no shipment or certificate follows from this announcement alone.
